Tips for Slower Speed Modems
Depending on the time of day, the type and speed of your Internet connection
and the number of people on the server, this web page may load slowly.
If this happens and you find it of concern, there are a few things you
can do to help speed things up.
-
Turn off the automatic graphics loading feature of your browser. This will
prevent you from viewing the pictures and logos on this site but it will
speed up the page loading to your screen. If you are using a graphics browser,
you can still view the pictures by clicking on the icons individually.
-
Use your browser's "back" command to return to the VCP's home page. Using
the "goto VCP home" link at the bottom of each page will cause the home
page to be reloaded from the server. This may slow down the page display
to your screen.
-
Using Lynx or similar text based browsers is an option for those who have
a slow (28.8 kbps, or slower) Internet connection. Rather than seeing pictures,
you will see text explanations in place of the graphics. This option may
or may not help depending on the speed and quality of your Internet connection.
-
Avoid loading and reloading the "artistic" link. This document is the most
graphics intensive page on this site.
This site has been tested using 14.4, 28.8, 33.6, 56K - V.90 and faster
modems/connectivity options; and using three of the most commonly available
Internet browsers. We have tried to design the site with those who use
slower connectivity in mind.
