When I was a kid, I decided that I wanted to be a lawyer. Many people who heard this found it quite funny and told me it was "impossible", explaining to me that "obviously, someone with a speech impediment can't be a lawyer". I heard this from many people -medical professionals, teachers, counsellors, et cetera. However, I did my own inquiries, reading books and talking to lawyers and others in the legal services. I quickly discovered that people who said it was "impossible" were all wrong - there was nothing preventing me from becoming a lawyer. I have been a lawyer for the past seven years... and love it! The upshot is, just because someone can give you an opinion, doesn't mean that they're right!
There are many things I enjoy doing, and some things I truly dislike. I love being in the outdoors, but I get very bored watching hockey games. I like books on history, but romantic novels make me yawn. Each thing I enjoy doing, I discovered through "trying it" on my own. My various activities make my life interesting and fun.
I believe that each of us have things that we can be good at, and can enjoy doing... the challenge is to find enough things to do, and ways to do them, to make life meaningful.
This book brings together a lot of resources to help make your life
more interesting, exciting and/or fulfilling. Try different things, expand
your horizons, and... if you can't find what you need, call us at the CPA-BC.
We're happy to help
